According to a new report, major crimes in the city of Oxnard fell almost 15% in 2019. The report was part of the Uniform Crime Report conducted by the FBI to track crime rates in cities across the nation.
The Uniform Crime Report specifically tracks four violent crimes (homicide, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault) as well as four property crimes (burglary, motor vehicle theft, arson and larceny). The report showed that “all four violent crimes showed either no change or a decrease, leading to a 9.4% decline overall.” Of the violent crimes, robberies had the biggest decrease--the number of robberies in 2019 was down 15.9% from 2018.
What do you do if you are accused of a Major Crime?
Major crimes have that name for a reason--these crimes of homicide, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault are very serious and have severe, life changing consequences. Even an accusation that you committed this type of crime can take a serious toll on your personal life. If you are accused of a major crime, you should contact a skilled criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. The penalties associated with major crimes include lengthy prison time (even life in prison), fines, and ultimately probation or parole. They can also be a strike under California's three strike law, so it is important to defend against these charges.
