Motorcyclist Dies in Fontana Collision

Posted by Dan Kann | Oct 23, 2020 | 0 Comments

Recently, a collision between a car and motorcycle resulted in the death of the motorcyclist. The crash occurred at around 8 p.m. in Fontana, a city in San Bernardino county. The Press Enterprise reported that David Lamb, the motorcyclist, was riding on Laurel Avenue when he collided with a pick-up truck.

Emergency personnel arrived to assist, but Lamb was pronounced dead at the scene. As of now, the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The driver of the truck did stay at the scene and cooperated with police. Police do not think that drugs or alcohol were involved in this crash, but will continue to investigate to determine the cause.

Finding the Cause of a Motorcycle Accident

Even if drugs or alcohol were not involved in this accident, the pick-up truck driver could still be responsible for the collision if he was speeding, disobeying traffic laws (such as running a stop sign), or was distracted driving (such as texting and driving). In a situation like this collision, if the investigation reveals that a negligent or a careless act on the part of the pick-up truck driver is what caused the accident, the pick-up truck driver can be held liable to the family members of Mr. Lamb for the wrongful death of their loved one.

The investigation of a motorcycle collision is very important, because determining who caused the incident also determines if a family member can bring a wrongful death claim. Even if at first glance a collision looks like an accident, it is important to conduct a full investigation. A skilled Fontana wrongful death attorney can conduct a thorough investigation to help determine the cause. This can require more than simply reading a police report, but diligent fact gathering such as looking for possible witnesses and camera footage, going to the scene of the accident, and reviewing other facts that may show negligence. If the investigation reveals that the other driver caused the collision that resulted in the loss of a loved one, then the family members can proceed with their wrongful death claim to get deserved compensation.

Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents are common in Southern California. Vehicle collisions that involve a motorcycle are often much more severe than other types of car accidents because there is no barrier between the motorcycle and its surroundings. Sadly, far too often the motorcyclist is killed when involved in a collision with another car.
