2017 is upon us! For many of us, ringing in the new year means enjoying a few (or a few too many) libations with friends and family. But worse than any type of 2017 party hangover is a legal hangover! No way to start a new year. At Kann California Defense Group we have put together some suggestions for enjoying celebrations and staying on the right side of the law. And if you are coming across this blog a little too late for these suggestions, be sure to give us a call today and we can begin working on your defense. We have years of experience helping individuals in your very situation throughout Ventura, Los Angeles, Kern, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
Here are some top tips for enjoying all your holiday celebrations without getting into legal trouble:
- Plan ahead: So many of our clients that come to us with a DUI, drunk in public, disturbing the peace, or other type of charge get in trouble because the night (or day) of celebrating simply got away from them. To avoid this, plan ahead before your holiday celebrations by making ride arrangements or a safe place to sleep. Let your friends and family know your plans so that they can look out for you too!
- Uber, Lyft & Taxis: With the plethora of cheap transportation options out there today, make sure you have a sober driving plan in place before you go out. If you have the app or number saved on your phone, you are much more likely to use it! Consider not driving at all during the holiday times to take one less worry off your mind and you can enjoy your nights out celebrating.
- Stay in: Ok so maybe “it's too cold outside” is not an excuse your Southern California friends are going to accept but think of it this way—going out on New Years Eve is one of the more expensive nights of the year. So consider staying in and avoiding the crowds and the increased police presence for the night? Or throw your own party and you won't have to worry about many of the things listed above.
At the Kann California Defense Group we wish you all a safe, happy and legal holiday season. And if you do find yourself in some legal trouble this holiday season, be sure to give us a call 24/7 for a free consultation. Call us at 888-744-7730 or contact us through our contact form.
